"Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be."
Rita Pierson
Originally from Brewton, Alabama, I received my Bachelors of Elementary Education and Masters of Elementary Education from Jacksonville State University. Go Gamecocks! I can truly say that teaching is a calling that laid hold of my soul and wouldn't let go. I began my college education majoring in forensic anthropology. After several years, it became clear to me that I was running from the place I wanted to be the most...the classroom. So, despite the fear of being in a profession that is overwhelmingly underfunded and under-appreciated I switched majors and have never been happier.
I began my teaching career in Leeds, Alabama at Leeds Elementary School where I taught 4th grade for three years. I really loved my time in Leeds and left the area with a heavy heart when we decided to move back to the Eastern Shore.
I am married to Matthew Davis, a local business owner. I am also the mommy of Emma Elizabeth, who is in 7th Grade at FMS; and sassy Evie, who is in 1st Grade at FWES.
This is my 11th year teaching at Fairhope West Elementary. I can honestly say that I have never lived anywhere like Fairhope! Matthew, Emma, Evie, and I love this area and all of the people that we have met here.
"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."
Benjamin Franklin
